| With Henig out, MSU's hopes fall on true freshman, juco transfer at quarterback STARKVILLE — So you've just beaten Auburn on the road. Got Division I-AA Gardner-Webb coming to town Saturday night. What's to keep your mind on the grind of football practice? How about a week-long job interview? At least for the pair of quarterbacks vying to become Mississippi State's new starter, this week promises to be as intense as any all year. Though MSU coach Sylvester Croom said true freshman Wesley Carroll is ahead in the two-horse race to relieve the injured Michael Henig, the competition between he and junior college transfer Josh Riddell will go on all week. It won't matter, either. This job interview, it seems, is unending. "Actually who will start? They're both going to play," Croom said. "Who will start, we won't decide that. And I may not even announce who will start. Not a big deal, because they're both going to play." MSU Football: QB Quandary
