| Mississippi State's Henig undergoes surgery STARKVILLE — Mississippi State quarterback Michael Henig underwent successful surgery Sunday morning to repair a bone fracture on his right throwing hand, MSU spokesman Mike Nemeth said. Henig said after Saturday's game that trainers told him to expect to be sidelined for two to four weeks. Henig, a junior, was injured in the first half of Mississippi State's 19-14 win at Auburn. He was 1-for-3 for 16 yards when he departed. True freshman Wesley Carroll and junior college transfer Josh Riddell played the remainder of the game, and both figure to compete for the starting job this week in preparation for Saturday's 6 p.m. game against Gardner-Webb. Carroll was 3-of-10 for 10 yards and Riddell was 1-of-5 for 15 yards. Riddell said after Saturday's game that he welcomes competition with Carroll, with whom he says he is close. "We're just both ready for it and supporting each other," Riddell said. MSU's Henig undergoes surgery
