| Green Wave unknown to Mississippi state bulldogs STARKVILLE — New coaching staff, new quarterback. A team that didn’t even play in the first weekend of the season. In Tulane, Mississippi State’s opponent Saturday night in the Louisiana Superdome, there are enough unknowns to keep the coaching staff busy this week. “We’ve had to go through two years of film to get a sense for what they will do, which is unusual but it’s what we have to do for this game,” coach Sylvester Croom said. MSU quarterback Michael Henig said Monday that the team had been reviewing film of San Diego State, where Tulane defensive coordinator Thom Kaumeyer most recently coached. Linebackers coach Fred Bleil coached with Kaumeyer at San Diego State except for last season, which he spent at North Texas. New Tulane coach Bob Toledo hasn’t been a head coach since 2002, though he did serve as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at New Mexico last year. Croom said he expects a variety of spread formations out of the Green Wave Saturday night. Even though Tulane lost its quarterback, Lester Ricard, after last season, the Green Wave returns star tailback Matt Forte. THE NEXT APPALACHIAN STATE? Green Wave unknown to MSU
