| No sugar-coating what cost State STARKVILLE — New season, same old result. LSU won decisively over Mississippi State for the seventh straight time Thursday on the opening night of college football. This time the score was 45-0 What was different this damp, muggy evening was the way it happened. Unlike the recent past, this wasn't a case of LSU simply overwhelming the Bulldogs with vastly superior speed, quickness, size, depth and ability on both sides of the ball. This wasn't LSU's typical physical manhandling of State, as a sweat-soaked crowd of more than 50,000 can attest. No, this was more a case of State self-destructing with four first-half interceptions thrown by junior quarterback Michael Henig, a school-record tying six Henig interceptions overall and seven turnovers.
