| MSU Football: Riddell's suspension creates ripples STARKVILLE — There was no ceremony, no pull-to-the-side conversation between Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom and his true freshman quarterback, Wesley Carroll. Carroll quietly vaulted to No. 2 on the quarterback depth chart Monday when Josh Riddell was arrested early Sunday morning for driving under the influence. Croom has suspended Riddell indefinitely. But talk to Carroll and his cool demeanor makes it hard to believe that eight months removed from his high school career, he's an unfortunate play away from facing second-ranked LSU on ESPN Aug. 30. "I'm still going to prepare the same way," Carroll said after Monday's practice. "You've got to consider the fact that any one play, you could be the next guy.
