Mississippi State ended its stretch of off-week practices Thursday with a closed workout. The emphasis this week has been simple, linebacker Jamar Chaney said: fundamentals.
"Just the little stuff you don't think about on an every day basis," he said.
Chaney said he plans to use his off week to visit an old friend, Jeff Owens, a defensive tackle at Georgia. Chaney said he'll go watch UGA's game against Tennessee Tech.
Quarterback Tyson Lee said he's just going to hang out with family and friends and get out of Starkville, where the team has worked out almost daily since the first of August.
This week's workouts, Chaney said, were buoyed by last week's win at Kentucky.
"It's always good to go into a bye week with a win," he said. "I couldn't imagine what practice would be like if we had lost last week."
