STARKVILLE — Morning fog and cloud cover led to a good Mississippi State practice this morning, coach Dan Mullen said.
“They came out and worked hard today,” Mullen said. “Maybe a little cloud cover doesn't hurt the cause for them when they get a little tired and sore and it's not as hot.”
Mullen and State will practice again this afternoon before a Thursday scrimmage, the first full scrimmage of preseason camp. Preseason practices are closed to the media and public.
But after learning earlier this week that right guard Tobias Smith will miss at least four weeks with a torn ligament in his ankle, the Bulldogs, according to Mullen, got good injury news on teammate Derek Sherrod today. The left tackle "looked a lot better," Mullen said. "Trainers thought he looked better than they thought he'd be today. Not in a hurry to rush things right now."
