| Pima College Softball I just wanted to give props to the girls of Pima College for winning their 2nd NJCAA Softball title in 3 years. I am currently a student at Pima working towrds an associates degree in electronics with the likely transfer to ASU to get my bachelor's degree. Pima winning the national championship is even more remarkable considering the rule that they are only allowed to recruit athletes from Pima County. Every one of the girls on our team is from right here in Tucson and 12 of the 16 are freshman and will return next year for another possible title run.
Pima went undefeated in the 12 team round robin tournament and came from behind to win the title game over Gulf Coast College of Panma City, Florida by a score of 3-2. Ironically, it is the same school that Pima defeated in the final in 2004. Tourney MVP Amanda Duran had a walkoff HR to beat Odessa,Texas as well as the game winning hit in the final. She finished the season with 109 RBI's and won the triple crown in the ACCAC with a .531 batting average and 21 HRs. Pima was 60-10 overall for the season and they are already talking about defending their title for a repeat. |
