Scorching Chicago Marathon Leaves 1 Dead

Scorching Chicago Marathon leaves 1 dead - Yahoo! News

Damn, that's horrible. "In a race run in scorching heat that left one man dead, Kenya's Patrick Ivuti won the Chicago Marathon by a fraction of a second Sunday. At least 49 runners were taken to hospitals and another 250 were treated at the site."

88 degree heat and a 35-year old man passed away.

I once ran a 5 KM in 97% humity and saw runners sprawled on the course...so a Marathon is definitely not ment to be run in these conditions...who won?

Kenya's Patrick Ivuti won, leaning at the finish line to edge Jaouad Gharib of Morocco by 0.05 seconds. Ivuti, competing in only his second major marathon, was timed in 2 hours, 11 minutes, 11 seconds in the closest finish in the race's history. He was the fifth straight Kenyan to win the race.

Wow!...2.11.11 is impressive for a day in the 80's...very impressive...I would have guessed no better than 2.15 given the conditions
