Wow... just, wow. Tough call. Both were named the best player in their sports twice. Both have been on the cover of video games. Both have huge endorsement deals. Both are immensely popular and incredibly talented. I've got to think this one over a bit.

I had to go with Peyton. Soccer may be the world's most popular sport, but I don't know anything about Ronaldihno. I don't confess to know too much about the sport, but to win in this, I think a layman should have heard about him.

I'm going to have to go for Manning too, basically because I've seen more of his play (and thus, I'm more familiar with him as an athlete). And I've gotta give the kid props for the way he runs his own offense - a nearly dead art in the National Football League.

Tough call on this one, but Manning is so much more than a player...he is the on field coach of the Colts...got to take my boy Peyton...no dis to Ronaldihno who has twice been FIFA Footballer of the Year...and who scores goals in bunches for Barcelona...His 74 caps and 29 goals in international competition are not shabby either...but yeah, Peyton.

See, I agree there...too close for 1 to 8 bracket...that's a dis on International sports...but out of sight is out of mind.

i went for Ronaldinho on this one, you say that both were voted as the best players in their respective sports but football is not a world wide sport so Peyton didnt have the same kind of competition to beat out that Ronaldinho did.
in the past votes you have explained how certain players edged the vote becuase they had world wide popularity and even though he may not be well known with non-soccer fans in the US he is known by every other person with the slightest knowledge of soccer around the world.
i agree that on the field Peyton is a better leader but in terms of ability in their respective sports i think they are on the same level.
in my opinion Ronaldinho edges out Peyton based on world wide popularity and i think if your going to base this competition on lots of aspects including world wide popularity with you have to do it with everyone

Worldwide popularity certainly has to be a factor, but not the only factor. Like I said, it was a close one, but I give Peyton the edge for his leadership.

thats a great point right there the soccer dude has alot more competition to be the best

in this match-up maybe more then most i think it is a huge factor ..... they are both at the pinnacle of their sport and must both be great leaders and also have impressive on field accomplishments

I think some of you might be selling the international popularity of the NFL short. After all, there's some reason they want to play in London and China, right? Then again, the NFL Europe league failed. Hmm, I still say this one is almost too close to call. Guess I really just played favorites by picking Manning.
