| Re: Battle of the "Non" Sports: Pro Wrestling vs So you Think you can Dance Does the winner of this round go on to face Building an Imaginary Internet Forum Headquarters for the championship? I'm just saying, we all stray from the mission statement here and there. At least these two are vaguely sports related. Former professional athletes have been involved with both activities, and both require people to be in excellent physical condition. They also both require intense training and concentration, much like sports like gymnastics. I declare this contest a 'push.'

| Re: Battle of the "Non" Sports: Pro Wrestling vs So you Think you can Dance Well, in terms of former athletes involved, dancing with the stars has had Emmitt Smith, Evander Holyfield, Lalia Ali and Jerry Rice. Wrestling has had Lawrence Taylor, Karl Malone, Dennis Rodman, Frank Wycheck and Steve McMichael. And how do we know Dancing with the Stars isn't scripted, hmm? |

In Ric Flair's book (great read, by the way), he describes a little about how it's done. There's no hard and fast script, but they have a basic start and a planned finish, and everything else in the middle is improv. One guy "calls" the match, meaning he gives instructions to his opponent. Look close and you can see them doing it during headlocks and whatnot. It's also fun watching and trying to see where and how they cut themselves to bleed, and how they work to fall right so they don't get seriously injured. Like I said, it's an art form. |

| Re: Battle of the "Non" Sports: Pro Wrestling vs So you Think you can Dance I think I'll jump into th emix here and add my 4.3 cents (Inflation) Wrestling and dancing with the _______ both fall under the heading of reality shows, better seen as scripted. Neither gets my vote unless you're shooting for sheer mindless entertainment ... then wrestling wins. Now what is this deal with the imaginary headquarters ????? I've taken my time for weeks now to travel about, with Ross's card, to locate acceptable sites. Has this been in vain ??? |

I think I knew pro wrestling was a fake when I was a kid, but I watched it. I still think it was better then. I dont like it now. But it seems to me that if someone if going to pick up a 7ft. 300 pound man like my husband was talking about, there has to be some degree of athleticism there. Pro Wrestling is popular, not only in this country, but others. There's a lot of cleaning up to do in it. Benoit's situation is just scratching the surface. It's going to make football's badboys look like saints. I love football, my husband loves wrestling. I tolerate his sport same as I wish him to tolerate mine. If someone wants to call his a sport, then I say let them. Each to his own. According to the forum rules, the "other sports" need to be legal. It doesnt really define sport otherwise. So if I want to talk about (what's that game Mooch plays?) , ping pong, horseshoes, or whatever, guess it meets the forum rules. |
