Court remains in session. |

| I found an old SI article. No remember Gotham when you judge - this is not a court of law. Isles captain Peca out for playoffs with knee injury Campbell addresses Tucker hit Posted: Sunday April 28, 2002 9:02 PM UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) Darcy Tucker made a low hit on Islanders captain Michael Peca, leaving Peca with a torn ligament in his left knee. No penalty was called and Peca is out for this season and likely part of next. Colin Campbell was aware that Tucker had threatened to "take out" Peca and "kill" him during games, but Campbell said he was not prepared to put microphones on players or officials. "We don't pay attention to what's been said," Campbell said. "One camp says Tucker wanted to hurt Peca. Do I think he was trying to hurt him? I can't get into his head." Trash talking, Campbell added, is tough to "nail down." |

Pudit my man you are on Public Record...I am just the judge...I am facilitating the matter...we need us a jury now... What we have here is called Exhibit A: Sports Illustrated Article that tries to establish intent. The question before the jury then is..."Can trash talk during the course of a game be cited as "Malicious Intent?"...the question is before our peer Pundit...we now need us a jury of 12 members of GoTeamsGo...any takers ladies and gentlemen?.. Of course, the Honorable Blueandwhite girl has a right to submit her own exhibits into the Forum of Public Records... -gotham PS I do point out that the article closes on the point that trash talk is rather hard to "nail down"...does that leave for reasonable doubt?...anybody?... |

| Re: Most hated Athlete You Love That's exactly what I was going to say. Trash talking, Campbell added, is tough to "nail down." Then it isn't exactly proof of anything, is it? he said, no he said... I have a feeling those guys all say idiotic things on the bench, in face offs, during fights. Maybe even peca once (could that be possible? or would he just send in his goon). For crying out loud, coaches say F*** off to a bad call all the time for the young and old viewing audience to lip read. It's a sport of mouthing off and heated fights. It's forgotten two minutes later. I don't think Tucker is the kind of guy with a vendetta - or he wouldn't be as good as he is. he just plays hockey. |

But Counselor I will give you leeway, if you can establish a pattern of behavior for Mr. Tucker I think you can mount a stronger case... |

| CLOSING ARGUMENT: Honestly Blue: I remember him saying something like: "Do you know what I could do to you?" I don't remember the "kill" part but that was in the SI article so I threw it in as evidence. The bottom line was he definitely threatened him. Tucker nor the Leafs ever denied it. Other players heard it. The exact words don't really matter. Had Tucker just hit Peca, injured him and not threatened, I wouldn't complain. Cheap shots are, or at least were, part of hockey. My problem with Tucker was that I really think he went out and tried to hurt Peca - and he did. The prosecution rests. |

| Re: Most hated Athlete You Love I guess what i think is, it's past. There's no doubt Tucker's a physical player. But it happened and everyone's moved on. Please someday, let everyone move on past bertuzzi's moment too. It's a really physical, heated sport. I think it's like a dish it out and and take it too thing. |

![]() Actually I like to enter this into the Public Record... ESPN.com Updated: Feb. 6, 2004, 12:12 AM ET 10 things we like about hockey Listed the Tucker/Peca Hit as a reason the Leaf/Isle have a rivalry...and it lists rivalry as "One of the best things about the game"...Its listed as #6... So, in essences, ESPN is saying that these types of hits and the rivalries it sparks are an intergal (though unfortunate) part of the game... |
