ARE, Sweden -- Maybe the hate mail will stop now that Bode Miller has won a race.
Or maybe it's just too late.
Miller, who produced a 1-2 American finish with Daron Rahlves in the season's World Cup final super-G on Thursday, has been receiving hostile letters since failing to medal at the Olympics last month.
"The stuff after the Olympics was pretty aggressive," Miller said. "People were getting pretty fired up and pretty involved considering the amount of research they were willing to do, which as an athlete is a maybe a little bit weird and a little bit frustrating.
"If somebody's going to put that much energy into writing me or my family or my coaches hate mail, and be pretty harsh and aggressive, it seems like they would put the 10 minutes or whatever to do a little bit of research and find out that they're basing their entire hate mail and judgment on the opinion of one journalist, who's never even been to a ski race, or has been to one or two ski races in their life, and doesn't know anything about what they're writing about."

It's not me. Although I cannot stand what Miller represents, an overhyped athlete who made millions in endorsements BEFORE the event, only an idiot would refuse the money that was offered him. The Olympics are no longer must see TV for me since they became so full of professionals, looking to cash in.
People who send hate mail tend to be unstable and like to rant and rave to anyone who will listen about whatever strange thing upsets them on a certain day and I certainly do not fit that profile as many of you can tell by the many posts that i have left on here over the last ..............

The sponsors are as much, if not more, to blame for the whole Bode Miller fiasco. From everything I've heard and read, he was always a reluctant role model who just wanted to ski. The media and his sponsors overhyped him and he's just the type who doesn't care what anyone thinks and is just out to have a good time.

Didn't anyone learn from the whole Dan vs. Dave fiasco of overhype before the Olympics?

Don't know about Brazil, but I remember that being the case in Columbia after they lost to the USA in the 1994 Cup...a player reponsible for giving up a goal to a USA player was gunned down outside a cafe...

C'mon... Do any of you really care about downhill skiing? Even if the guy had won a medal wouldn't he of still been overhyped?
It's no different than the snowboarders to me... I understand they won, but just because they are Americans and on top of their "game" I'm supposed to be glued to my T.V.
Get real... The Olympics are the Olympics, and the winter olympics...well they are what they are. If this were Norway or Finland we would probably care but it's not. Win or lose, once the "games" are over no one in this country really cares what they do.

Anyway, as for Griffey.... Well thinking about Griffey makes me curl up in the fetal position and whimper like a lost puppy. Saying the Reds are on a "skid" would be analogous to saying "looks like the price of gasoline is going up."
As for Farve, well... What can I say? The question was posed as to who was the most "OVERRATED" QB, and I simply gave my opinion. I gave a few reasons why I felt so, along with attempting to distinguish "bad" from "overrated."
As for Bodie Miller, well... If it were not for those Nike Ad's and him being on the cover of every magazine for two straight months I doubt any of us would even know who he was. So to be upset that he lost seems a little on the rediculous side to me, and to worry about him post-games appears to border on the abusrd.
