Re: Greatest Sports Quotes I forgot one of my other favorites. Everything Pete Rose is interesting to me, I guess thats just the way it is when to grow up in Cincy. Anyway this quote is from Petey, Pete Rose Jr., on what he learned from his dad growing up. "My dad taught me to hit the ball where it was pitched."

Re: Greatest Sports Quotes One of the best quotes in Sports History came from Woody Hayes. The quote and story goes something like this. In 1968, OSU beat Michigan 50-14 (or something like that). Woody Hayes called for a 2 point conversation after a late TD in the 4th quarter. Then assistant coach Lou Holtz asked Woody why he called for a 2 point conversation. Hayes replied, "Cause they won't let me go for 3". I hate the Buckeyes but that's an awesome quote, if ever I heard one

Re: Greatest Sports Quotes Phillies manager Danny Ozark, "Even Napolean had his Watergate." Al MacGuire was recruiting the same kid that John Chaney from Temple was. Macguire called the kid at 4:30 in the morning and started talking about Marquette. The sleepy kid said,"Coach, why are you calling me at 4:30 in the morning?" MacGuire replied, "Because if you go to Temple, that's what time they start practice!"
