I Will Not Have Political Discussion In This Thread

The 2016 Summer Olympics have been awarded to Rio. Chicago was in the running but was passed over by the IOC.

Some seem disappointed by this, I on the other hand couldnt be happier. I heard today that in preparation for the 2012 Olympics, London has already 4 times over their expected budget. Seems to me Chicago could find better things to do then throw away tons of money trying to put on the Olympics.

I also found it amusing to find out that the date of the Summer Olympics will actually fall in the Winter for Rio .... as Rio is in the Southern Hemisphere. I'm sure Winter time is not extremely cold in Rio ... but it would be interesting to find out their average temperature for that time of year when the Games are held.

Not Chicago, oh well I kind of had mixrd reactions about it going to Chicago just becaue it'd kind of be a pain having to get around the Olympic stuff when I'm trying to do every day things like getting Pizza, but it'd still be cool. As far as Rio goes, ok. Let's see how it plays out I've seen Rio when the UFC did an All-Acess with Anderson Silva who is from Rio and it's a beautiful city. I guess I'm fine with that

to bad for Chicago but I'd been upset with the 2016 Olympics since Philly fell out in the early rounds like 2 years ago. Which just lead me to making a facebook group for getting the Olympics to Philly which hasn't caught on like i thought it would

I was living back in Atlanta when they hosted the Olympics and I can tell you it was a nightmare trying to get around town. Especially after that idiot set that pipe bomb off in the Olympic Park. Total gridlock. A huge number of people who lived downtown actually left after that and headed for the beach or the mountains until the Olympics were over. But some planned to leave before it got started, and rented their houses out for the duration of the games. Even with the high prices they were asking, they had no problem getting them rented.

Yeah it seemed like fun expect for when I realized I'd have to drive through all the traffic, getting a pizza or driving to the store would be way harder then it should be and stuff like that. But I would try to go to the basketball games and maybe a swimming thing if there is a second generation Michael Phelps (that's not a weed joke)
