I ain't saying its right, Goth, but the HOF voters are fickle. Jerry Kramer's not in the football hall, and while its a different sport, Cooperstown is keeping people out based on wild speculation. Plus playing past his prime will increase the number of interceptions thrown, increase his TD to INT ratio, likely decrease his completion percentage and QB Rating. You see zero shot that those stats worsening, plus the indecisiveness, will cost him votes?

Sorry for the double-post, but I did some digging. Favre first mentioned retirement back in 2002.

Re: Favre drama at an end

I'm glad he is playing. For some reason I like having him in the league. I don't see how that will effect his hall of fame status. Only get him more stats if anything really. And yes, I put VIkings first, for a long time they have been a super bowl team that just needed a QB. Now they have one.

They should've just stuck with Sage Rosenfelts at least he'd manage the game and give them a chance, all Favre does is throw interceptions, it's awful. If the Bears odds don't go up from this it'd be a shame.

Did you know that the Jets receivers actually led the league in dropped passes near the end of the season? Hmmm, blame it all on the QB, not to mention his torn biceps tendon...I would expect this kind of comment from a Bears fan. Leave the damn guy alone, if he wants to play football no one can tell him otherwise. I dont see why people have to make stupid remarks just because they cant face the facts. Honestly, I think your scared of the whole situation.

Vikings will win the division either way, with or without Favre.

Lets leave the talking crap on Favre until he actually does perform bad and hurts the team as a whole, then I will eat my words.

But until then, I am looking forward to Favre being a Viking.

If he sucks, then we are back where we started with TJ and SR. So I dont see why people have to complain so much when its not even their team.

BP, you must have some great family dinners.

Its his decision to play or not to play. But I think people are tired of his wishy washy act. According to Lefty's info, its been seven years. Thats a bit much. And I think thats why they get a bit worked up.
I saw a headline about Drama Queens in the NFL and the thought flashed through my head it must be about Brett. We have a drama queen or two in our family. They always must be center stage.
You and the Bears fan are both discounting the Packers. What makes either of you think they wont take the division?

Re: Favre drama at an end

I know a lot of people are saying Favre could be good for the Vikes, and that is possibly true--so long as they don't forget their identity. They are a run first-team and should remain a run-first team, which could be difficult with an established QB with a gunslinger mentality running the offense.

Maybe they have been run first because they haven't had a QB that they trust throwing too often. Now that they do they will have a complete offense. Favre will make them better.

Exactly, being able to have a complete offense is going to get the Vikes farther then ever this year and to be honest, I agree with he person who was saying that this will get Farve a HoF spot. I mean, if he can help Minnesota become one of the most complete teams out there at his age, you have to give him a spot, if you weren't already considering that is...

I still think they will win or lose based on their running backs, Favre or no Favre.

Agree. If I had TJ as my quarterback, I wouldnt want them to throw too often either. And Favre can make them better.

The problem here could be that gunslinger mentality Lefty mentioned. He can make them better if he uses his head, they do have arguably the best running back duo in the NFL, as of today.

Disagree. They didnt get that far in previous years and they had the same running backs. The offense has been missing a quarterback.

I wonder how it will work with him and Birk. They never liked each other too much before.

Alright you caught me, I'm obviously scared to death of my team's biggest rival bringing in a washed up 40-year old who's thrown more picks than anyone in NFL history amd has a suspect shoulder. I'm shaking in boots, I don't know how the Bears can win the division now, whats going to happen to the season!

No!!! I'm not scared at all, Favre is washed up, you want me not to bash him until I see what he does on the field, hello the last thing I saw him do on the field was blow a good season for the Jets. He can't play in domes and now he can't play outside, he's done.

And a comment a Bears fan would make? 90% of the Viking fans I know just hate on the Bears and Packers more than they root for the Vikings so I don't know where that came from

Bears, he may have thrown more picks, but on the other side he has thrown for more yards and has broken records set for years. I dont know how you can call him washed up until we see how his shoulder affects him this season. With the offensive line and run game the Vikings have, all he has to do is be better than Jackson. You are banking your season on a younger drama queen. And there is still a question mark on Bears defense. We know what the Viking defense can do.
And I still say you are underestimating the Packers. The defense is all that held them back last year and they have the talent, and now they have a new DC.
Otherwise, bash away!

We saw the shoulder effected last year and it was pitiful, my head honestly hurt watching. Will a surgery competely make everything better like most people want to think it will, I doubt it. When other guys have surgeries we're worried about how they'll come back, why everyone thinks that Favre is is different blows my mind.

Than no he doesn't have to be better than Jackson he has to be better than Sage, which at this point I don't think he is. Once you're a gunslinger you're always a gunslinger, the Vikings don't need a gunslinger with a questionable shoulder. At least Sage is pretty vanilla, not throwing deep balls, just hand offs and over the middle passes when they need. I don't think Favre is good for this team, they should keep Sage. Then again I'm a Bears fan why do I care?
