Favre To Vikings?!?

What do you guys think will happen?

Former Jets QB Brett Favre to meet with Vikings coach Childress

"Brett Favre is still retired but perhaps not for much longer.
The former Jets quarterback is scheduled to meet with Minnesota head coach Brad Childress later this week at an undisclosed location to talk about the possibility of playing again, according to an ESPN report.
Since retiring in February, Favre has repeatedly maintained that he is done playing football and that he was relaxing and enjoying life on his sprawling farm in Mississippi. However, there have been signs of him coming out of retirement for the second straight offseason.
Three days after the Jets traded up in the draft to secure their quarterback of the future in Mark Sanchez, GM Mike Tannenbaum released Favre. Favre's camp had requested that the Jets release him after his retirement to keep his options open. With Sanchez in the fold, the Jets would have put themselves in a vulnerable financial position by keeping Favre. If Favre wanted to play again, the Jets would have had three days to activate him, and then his $13 million salary-cap number for 2009 would have counted against their salary cap. The Jets are currently $12 million under the cap, and even if they wanted to trade Favre, they would have to activate him first.
On top of that, the Jets would have had to surrender two first-round picks to the Packers due to a clause Green Bay negotiated in the Favre trade last summer as compensation if the Jets traded him to any NFC North team. Now, Favre could technically sign with any team that he chooses - even Jets' rival New England if Tom Brady weren't ready to start the season. But following his falling-out with the Packers, Favre made it no secret that he wanted to play for the Vikings.
Besides being able to stick it to the Packers twice a year, Favre would be able to play for a coaching staff that he is familiar with. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell was Favre's quarterbacks coach in Green Bay from 2003-05. And Childress has known Favre since the mid-1990s when he used to study Packers practices as an assistant at the University of Wisconsin.
According to the report, there is a mutual agreement that Favre will make a decision soon after the meeting on whether he will play for the Vikings, who would like him to attend offseason minicamps and training camp. Also, Favre's agent is researching retired NFL quarterback coaches who could work with the quarterback in Mississippi while he contemplates playing again, according to a source in the report.
Favre still is recovering from a torn biceps tendon that severely affected his play down the stretch of the last season when the Jets lost four of their last five games. Favre declined to undergo surgery on his arm, believing that it would heal with time much like a similar injury did when he was in Green Bay."

When this goes down I will gladly help Vikings fans dig the hole for the coffin that their 2009 season will go into

My guess is that you'll be required to do a lot of digging. Once you start the sides will continue to fall in on this one. In other words the Vikings will be busy burying themselves faster than anyone can imagine !!!

Not so sure of that Bears and LSC. It depends on whether or not his arm is ok.

Re: Favre To Vikings?!?

Favre can still play at a high level of competition, if his health allows.

Things should be much easier playing in a dome without all the weather and I think he can lead this team to the superbowl.

Thats exactly right BP. He was definitely having trouble with the cold in later years. And that used to be when he played at his best.
Problem is, he is still going to have to go to Soldier's and Lambeau.

There's your bet, right there, or are you saying they will be there as observers ?

It's not though, not to mention it screws the Vikings whole. They are better with Sage Rosenfelts throwing for 180 yards and a TD every game and then just giving the ball to AP and Chester Taylor 45 times a game. Brett Favre wants to throw it deep, thats great but he can't throw it deep any more and it'll take carries away from AP. It's just a bad idea, but I'm a Bears fan what do I care. I got the shovel ready

Maybe Brett knows he cant throw it deep any more. And thats because of his arm.
He would have to be a real idiot not to realize the weapons he has in Peterson and Taylor. They would help him get his revenge quite nicely thank you.

Well, you're young and can probably help them by shoveling fast, but I don't think even a young one such as yourself can keep that hole clear enough for him to get off any good passes.

How come he didn't last year, that team should've been giving the ball to Thomas Jones 23 times and Leom Washington 13 times. Now they aren't AP and Chester Taylor. But I think Brett Farve is a once a gun-slinger always a gun-slinger guy. They are better off with Sage

Re: Favre To Vikings?!?

How can you say our team will not be better with Farve as the QB?

We will have too many weapons, Farve is great as passing slant routes and im sure he can get to berrian deep if he wanted. This offense would scare a lot of people.
