MINNEAPOLIS -- Wide receiver Koren Robinson was among eight players cut by the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, 10 days after he was charged with drunken driving and fleeing police.

Robinson, who made the Pro Bowl as a kick returner last season and signed a three-year, $12.7 million contract extension in March, was one of the Vikings' few bright spots last season.

Good for the Vikings. It takes guts to value character over ability in professional sports, and its something I wish more NFL owners and GMs would do more often. Robinson is a physically gifted athlete, and usually that's a pass for any kind of conduct. Just look at the Titans with Pacman Jones, or the Bengals with their plethora of problem children. So I'm glad that Minnesota execs have learned their lesson after the boat fiasco of last season.
