Redskins give up draft pick for James

It turns out the Vikings will get something in return for Erasmus James.

After announcing they were placing the defensive end on waivers late Friday afternoon, the Vikings rescinded the move Tuesday and instead traded James to the Washington Redskins for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2009 draft.

This part made me sad.

If that happens, it will mean the Vikings received sixth- and seventh-round selections for the Nos. 7 (Troy Williamson) and 18 (James) overall picks in the 2005 draft.

It may be a conditional 7th round pick, but still it is always pretty nice to get something for nothing. What do you all think of the move from the Vikings perspective? And the Redskins perspective?

Like you said, if they were gonna cut the guy anyway, it's definitely best to get something back for him. Even if it's just a 7.
