Minnesota to sign Bernard Berrian?

The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly in talks with free agent WR Bernard Berrian.

Also, the AP is reporting that they've signed fullback Thomas Tapeh and safety Madieu Williams. Tapeh replaces Tony Richardson and Williams will step in for Dwight Smith. Good signings?

Re: Minnesota to sign Bernard Berrian?

He is a great receiver but his contracts demands are completely unreasonable.

Re: Minnesota to sign Bernard Berrian?

The Vikings came into the year with plenty of cap room...it would seem like they can sign a few high price free agets/

Re: Minnesota to sign Bernard Berrian?

I think Berrien is a good fit for the Vikings. Since their quarterback can't throw the ball, might as well have a receiver who can't catch the ball.

Re: Minnesota to sign Bernard Berrian?

Here is how big of a hole the Bears have on offense now-Berrian and Muhammad combined for 111 catches, 1,521 yards and eight touchdowns last season. The rest of the wide receivers on the roster had 43 catches for 535 yards and three touchdowns. Bradley, the former second-round draft pick player coaches and management alike have been talking up so much, had only six receptions and barely saw the field.

So maybe they will have to play Devin Hester...this team is going in reverse.

I have heard it said a couple of times that having Hester involved in the offense was a possibility.
Didnt they talk about it last year already.

Re: Minnesota to sign Bernard Berrian?

They did more than talk about it last year. It was a comedy of errors, he didn't even know where to line up half the time. I understand them wanting him to be a receiver, with his speed, but so far he has been a bust. Got to find some way for Devin to get some exercise, cuz most teams are not stupid enough to kick to him.

How many times did he line up as a wide receiver? I am thinking he didnt have much practice at it.

Basically three plays a game and in the no huddle. The only things they did with him were reverses, screens, and streaks.

Better get him a few more now that they are running low on receivers...

Here is what the Bears have left at receiver.

Mark Bradley (talented but always hurt)
Devin Hester (big playability but the coaching staff won't let him play)
Rashad Davis (makes the big catches, but other than that is very special)
Mike Haas (was impressive in camp but never played)
