| Re: Can the 2008 Vikings make the playoffs They arent as bad as you think they are and they do have a shot at the wild card, only with a few improvements.
If they want to make it this year, they have to go with Jackson I think. Unless some really good veteran pops up somewhere. Jackson is young, and has improved. With 260 rush yards, he's proved he's not afraid to tuck the ball and run when there is nothing open. He had 12 interceptions in 12 games. I compared him to Tony Romo who had 19 interceptions in 16 games. I think Jackson will be good enough.
Vikings D was 1st against run, but 32 against the pass. Offense was 1st in rushing, but 28th in passing yards. That last cant all be laid at Jackson's feet. Rice is a good receiver, but they all need to step it up.
Jackson was sacked 19 times in 12 games, which comes out to about 1.6 per game. Romo was sacked 24 times in 16 games which comes out to about 1.5 per game. So pass protection isnt bad comparatively.
Also remember, this team was just buying into Coach Childress's program and he was just buying into this team at the end of the year. They should be in better sync next year.
