Statistics say Bollinger Best Bet To Start

After back-to-back relief appearances, Brooks Bollinger appears ready to take his turn in the Vikings' starting quarterback rotation.
With Tarvaris Jackson recovering from a concussion and veteran backup Kelly Holcomb still not all the way back from a neck injury, Bollinger is the early favorite to start Sunday's game at Green Bay.
Health considerations aside, he also might give the team its best chance to win based on coach Brad Childress' stated criteria for what he wants out of the quarterback position.
"You want it to be played high-percentage pass-wise, low-percentage turnover, low-percentage sack," Childress said Monday. "That's the way you always want the quarterback position to be played.
A quick check of the statistics reveals that Bollinger, has done a superior job in those areasStart with passing, where the five-year veteran from Wisconsin is completing 70.8 percent of his passes, to 50.6 for Holcomb and 46.4 for Jackson.
Move on to turnovers, where Bollinger hasn't thrown an interception in 24 attempts, compared with one in 83 for Holcomb and five in 110 for Jackson.
Bollinger has been sacked four times in considerably less playing time than Jackson, who has been sacked five times. But Bollinger's 112.3 passer rating is far better than that of Jackson (50.6) or Holcomb (73.1), who has been sacked 12 times.

Re: Statistics say Bollinger Best Bet To Start

Bollinger is okay only if you don't need the quarterback to win the game. When a guy is running for 300 yards for you, you don't have to do much.
