| Vikings have a challenge in 2007 The challenge for the Vikings this year is score more points and bolster a sagging fan base. Last year, they set a team record for fewest 1st downs and t.d. passes. Their hopes rest on Tavaris Jackson, a strong-armed fast-footed but extremely raw quarterback. He has help with the signing of Adrian Peterson, who fills out the back along with 1200 yard rusher Chester Taylor. The right side of the o-line was unsettled as of the last preseason game. But perennial Pro Bowl picks center Matt Birk and left guard Steve Hutchinson anchor the front five. A defense which last year yielded an NFL low of 61.6 yards rushing per game has returned every important player highlighted by Kevin Williams and Pat Williams. Also, some of the communications problems and first year frustrations seem to be eliminated. NFL 2007: Vikings turn to Tarvaris, looking for life on offense - Football Betting Lines - SPORTSBOOKS

| Re: Vikings have a challenge in 2007 For one thing, even if they signed Leftwich, there's no way they can start him now. I mean, it's rather important for the quarterback to actually KNOW THE OFFENSE, don't you think? The Vikes seem pretty high on Jackson, and if he struggles, there are worse guys you could bring in then Frerotte. They don't need a guy like Leftwich.
