| Vikings trade for veteran QB Holcomb The Minnesota Vikings finally have insurance if youngster Tarvaris Jackson fails to perform behind center. The Vikings traded for Eagles veteran quarterback Kelly Holcomb on Monday, FOXSports.com has learned. The Eagles will receive a sixth-round draft pick in 2008. The two sides have been talking about a deal for several weeks, but looming roster cuts pushed the trade forward. With the selection of Kevin Kolb in the second round of April's draft, the Eagles had a logjam at quarterback behind starter Donovan McNabb and backup A.J. Feeley. After coming over in an off-season trade from Buffalo, Holcomb never played a regular season down for the Eagles. In 11 NFL seasons, Holcomb has started 21 games, completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 5,401 yards with 37 touchdowns and 37 interceptions. | Re: Vikings trade for veteran QB Holcomb Trade makes sense for both teams. Philly had too many guys at the position, and let's face it, the Vikes really would like a competant veteran on the roster just in case Jackson isn't all that and a bag of chips. Holcombs given some bad teams a few good games, so he'll be a good fit in Minnesota.
