If the Legislature doesn't approve the Minnesota Vikings' plan for a $954 million retractable-roof stadium during the 2008 session, the additional one-year wait would add $47 million to the construction costs, the Metropolitan Sports Facility Commission said at a meeting Thursday.
It is important to "emphasize the urgency of moving forward on this, because it does cost more money, time, materials and labor each year you delay it," said Bill Lester, the commission's executive director. The commission, which owns and operates the Metrodome, is working with the Vikings to find a long-term stadium solution for the team.
