Georgia Tech's Johnson would be a dream for Vikings
RealFootball365.com, AZ - 4 hours ago
There is a lot of buzz surrounding ex-Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson after he ran a 4.33 in the 40-yard dash and recorded a 43-inch vertical leap this week in preparation for the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine.

Johnson is a three-time first-team All-ACC selection, two-time All-American, recipient of the 2006 Biletnikoff Award given to the nation's best receiver, and the reigning ACC player of the year.

He is 6-foot-5, 235 pounds of sheer speed, strength and athleticism, which makes it easy to see why Johnson makes pro scouts, front office executives and fans salivate.

Think of Randy Moss' speed, Marvin Harrison's work ethic and Terrell Owens' strength, and you get Calvin Johnson. That's a lot of praise heaped on someone who has yet to play a down in the NFL. Still, there's little doubt the receiver will go any lower than fifth in April's draft. Some even have him pegged as the best soon-to-be drafted player.

LOL...so the Vikings want him?...who doesn't...isn't it wiser not to say who you are after at this point in time...unless you are bluffing?

Re: Vikings want Calvin Johnson

We definitely need him. With not getting a WR in free agency, we are guarenteed to spend at least one of our first 3 picks on a wide out.

I tried posting a reply but it didn't work.

Anyways, with us not getting a WR in free agency, we could conceivably trade up for Johnson, but I think we'll sit tight and take one in round 2.

Re: Vikings want Calvin Johnson

I think we will end up drafting someone in round 2 because he won't be there at our pick (#7).

Re: Vikings want Calvin Johnson

Doubt they can get Johnson. He's a legit Top 4 pick. But the Vikings wanted Larry Fitzgerald and ended up taking Troy Williamson (was it the same year? or the year after Fitz?) who so far is a bust. Do they use another first on a receiver?

Re: Vikings want Calvin Johnson

Calvin Johnson would be a perfect fit for this team. I also think they should leave Tavaris Jackson as the starter because I see real talent in him so don't go QB Vikes. Jackson to Johnson could be a real NFL threat. And Empire is 100% right about Williamson being a total bust.

Nope, Williamson has a problem with his hand-eye coordination, he's been working with specialists at Nike to correct the problem. He did catch 52 passes his rookie year. He's gonna be fine. This is his 3rd year, remember Javon Walker wasn't good at all until he exploded in his 3rd year. With Jackson now being a 2nd year player, they'll develop a rapport with our rookie that we will draft as well. I think he's gonna be just fine.

Sorry but I have to disagree Vikes. Williamson is like Roberto Duran...Hands of Stone. The guy drops more passes than he catches and no amount of working with whomever is gonna change that. Calvin Johnson will be a great pic for the Vikings and again, I like Tavaris Jackosn.

Well I just read an article and they said that's why Williamson drops so many passes. I think its a matter of fact/fiction rather than opinion, really.

Re: Vikings want Calvin Johnson

I think the vikings should trade our first round pick and 2nd or 3rd round pick for the browns 3rd overall pick and I think with calvin johnson as our guy travaris Jackson will get better
