CB Fred Smoot, who has an injured groin and has been under immense emotional distress following the death of his half-brother, has been demoted by the Minnesota Vikings. Coach Brad Childress says he has to play the guys who give him the best chance to win, but according to an AP article, Smooth "was devastated by the sudden death of his half-brother in a car accident on Nov. 5. The typically chatty cornerback has been almost silent in the locker room ever since, rarely speaking above a whisper in public." Sounds like the kid is in serious need of some grief counselling to me. What do you think?

Too bad, I like Smoot...Wish he would take out his grief by whacking a wide receiver across the middle...but each person has his own way of coping.
