Forget the trade rumors. Looks like Minnesota's just gonna cut Culpepper.

From the Miami Herald: "The Dolphins expect Minnesota to release quarterback Daunte Culpepper before the Vikings are scheduled to pay him a $6 million roster bonus on March 17."

Assuming he won't be able to play this season with that torn-up knee, what are his options. Does he get signed now and place on the IR, or will teams be tentative in inking his to a deal when they don't know for sure what they're getting?

This is an interesting situation for a GM. Here is a quarterback with a strong trackrecord, but a tremendous amount of baggage between the injury and the boating incidents of last season. He may be attractive to a team that has patience, one that has a quarterback in place to get through the season.

The problem is, if we get rid of Daunte, we have no quarterback. We have Brad, but for what, 1 more season. If we need to trade Daunte, we need him to go to a team with a high draft pick so we can get a quarterback early in the draft. I still wish we had the combo of Daunte, Randy Moss, and Scott Linnehan. we had a awesome offense.
