Favre in Minnesota

Just read on Espn.com that Brett Favre has arrived in Minnesota and is expected to sign a one year contract with the Vikings worth 10 to 12 million. why can't he just go away? Doesn't put in any off season work with the team and he is gonna be the answer to all their prayers. I'm sick of the guy and his arrogance. I wish I could only show up for work when I felt like it and keep everyone wondering when that might be. F*ck Favre!!!

I just don't see them giving that much for a year???...unless they feel they have a shot at the title with him...

Still, why blame Favre (only)???...it always takes two to tango...and there always seems to be a willing team...if the feeling is mutual, what is the problem???

The problem is that Favre has been doing this "will he or won't he" crap for so long that it is immensely irritating, like a bad rash that just won't go away. I thought for sure we were done with this, but here, he's going to come back after all, and he gets to miss most of the OTAs and the preseason to boot. Funny thing is I used to like the guy, but now I hear his name on a sports show and I immediately change the channel. I'd rather listen to Michael Vick coverage than any more Favre drama.

Re: Favre in Minnesota

I thought that sounded like a lot of money too but unless I misread that is what it said. And you are right Goth Favre is not the only one to blame. Wasn't I just 2 or 3 weeks ago he said he was staying retired. I guess what my problem is this. You got however many players in training camp putting in the work and you have 2 QBs though neither all that good battling for the starting job then in walks this prick and becomes a distraction. I know I would be resentful if I was a member of that locker room and I'm sure some players do feel that way. They are away from their families putting in the work to prepare and he's at home throwing to high school kids.

Re: Favre in Minnesota

I'm ok with this. I like seeing Favre play. The Vikings would probably give him that much because they really feel that they are a quarter back away from a Super Bowl appearance. I would be excited if I were a Minnesota fan.

Re: Favre in Minnesota

I've lost most of my respect for him. Now it's just a question of "when" he gets injured.

Not that long ago, we had this poll, maybe it's time for another one...
Did Brett's tears tarnish his reputation?

Re: Favre in Minnesota

ha ha I heard about the rumor on Access last night and then read about it on several places on the internet. I thought, "Should I post just one more rumor about Favre?" then thought no, better not.
This afternoon my daughter called to say he had signed with the Vikings after all.
Sure the Vikings think they are a quarterback away from the Super Bowl. And it was the players last night who were saying it was a done deal. I thought they were dreaming. They want Favre there. Of course, not sure about Jackson and Rosenfels.
I dont care. I'm with Cougar. I just hope he can play. It sure will make a much more interesting season. I am thinking he practiced with the high school kids because he just wasnt quite healed enough.

GO VIKINGS!

Re: Favre in Minnesota

It will make it more interesting. I think he just didn't want to participate in team activities because in his mind he is too good for that. Either way I'm looking forward to the season. I want this soap opera to be over what has it been 4 or 5 years now. Enough already. I lose more respect for him every year he does this crap. This is what I will remember about him most not the records he holds

He wasnt healthy enough to participate in team activities.
Besides, he's 40 years old. He needs to keep the season a little shorter. Dont think anyone on the Vikings care. He will start on Friday.

Re: Favre in Minnesota

That is my point exactly. He is 40 and not healthy. Football does not just take place on Sunday. It is a week long season long job. It he can't do it anymore time to move on is all I'm saying. I don't believe for one minute that the whole locker room is behind this decision. You lead by example even if he hasn't healthy enough to fully participate in training camp he should have been there with the team. His arm was good enough to throw to high school kids it was good enough to throw to his receivers and learn the system and be with those guys

Re: Favre in Minnesota

are people jealous ?

he retires and people worship him and they throw parties in his honor ... then people beg him to come back .... and he drags it out to bask in the limelight .... he has been a story for the entire off-season ..... he has been in the news more then anyone else in the NFL .... and now he is guaranteed $12 million .... you all telling me you wouldnt come back ? ... oh yeah ... thats right ... they may not ask you back

yeah .... i think jealousy is playing into it
