Francisco Liriano injury

Francisco Liriano of the Minnesota Twins may not be able to return this season. According to the Associated Press, Liriano has a "mild chronic strain of his ulnar collateral ligament, and a clinical exam revealed weakness and stiffness in his shoulder that is causing that soreness in his forearm near his elbow." His doctor said that he is hopeful Liriano will be back in 2006, but not 100% confident that said return is possible. Huge loss for the Twins if he can't make it back, eh?

Re: Francisco Liriano injury

If he's not back sometime this year, the Twins don't make the playoffs. Even though there only a .5 game out of the wild card or something along those lines, Liriano was simply that good.

A real shame too, hopefully they can change his mechanics so he doesn't hurt himself in the future.

Re: Francisco Liriano injury

Who would have expected these aces to stumble in the second half due to injuries? We had our money on them down the stretch. The last quote was figurative language, since you all know that gambling on sports is illegal in New York and is not encouraged or promoted by the GoTeamsGo Fan Forum.

Re: Francisco Liriano injury

Think it was mechanics, or simple wear and tear from throwing too many innings. Liriano's a rook, right?

Re: Francisco Liriano injury

There's talk Liriano could be back around Labor Day. The Twins still look like they won't be going away anytime soon.

Re: Francisco Liriano injury

Losing Liriano is a significant loss to the organization, but they must deal with it for now. Labor Day is a few weeks away, but I am sure that Liriano would like to add more wins to his rookie season statistics when he returns. Hopefully, the Twins will still make the Playoffs regardless of whether their star is missing due to injuries.

Re: Francisco Liriano injury

I wonder if when Liriano returns, they'll send Garza back to the minors. Garza is pitching tonight for the Twins and they could be in the wild card lead if they win in ChiSox lose.

Re: Francisco Liriano injury

Does anybody have the odds about this important match-up? I think the White Sox should win the game because they have a strong and healthy team. The Twins are have struggled with injuries all season long and I don't see them making a miraculous comeback this season.

But good luck to miracles!
