Re: How about the Twins I don't think Torii Hunter has made a distinctive impact for the Twins, this season. He has battled too many injuries and hasn't really turned around from his slump. Next year is a great possibility for him to shine and recapture a Gold Glove Award. The Twins have survived on their excellent pitching.

Re: How about the Twins You don't seem so optimistic, MVB. The Yankees are only 2.5 games out! At least, you agree that they will make the Playoffs. I don't think the Twins will win the AL Central or the Wild Card. In other words, I probably won't see them in the Playoffs this year. To win their division and the Wild Card, they will have to pass by the Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox. The Tigers have the best record in the American League, so I don't think they will pass them by. The White Sox are tough, and I don't see them giving up a fight. Next year...

Re: How about the Twins It's going to be a fun fight down to the wire for the AL East, Central and Wildcard crowns. It's hard for me to imagine either the Tigers or ChiSox not making the post-season. Then again, it's even more difficult imagining the playoffs without the BoSox or Yankees. At this point, my predictions: AL West: Angels AL Central: Tigers AL East: Yankees AL Wildcard: White Sox

Re: How about the Twins The Tigers are so overrated.... The Twins are the best team in baseball right now, everyone is hitting- Morneou, Mauer, Cuddyer, even White and Bartlett. Kubel's been a nice surprise. This team has swept the '04 World Series Champs and the '05 World Series champs. The pitching is outstanding- Liriano, Santana, Radke, Silva, and Baker have all been good ( the first two have been great). The Tigers are: 3-5 against the ChiSox 1-3 against the Yankees 1-2 against the Bosox 2-3? against the A's The Tigers can beat the Royals, D' Rays, and Orioles beautifully, but when it comes to a real team, the Tigers play poorly! The Twins will overtake them in the central, and the Yanks or ChiSox will win the wildcard. Now, look at Detroit's schedule over the next two months or so: 10 games against Minnesota 10 games against Chicago 9 games against Boston, New York, and Toronto 6 games against Texas 6 games against Cleveland 3 games against the LA Angels A couple games against Tampa Bay ( who Detroit is 1-2 against this year ) and 3 games against KC - the only easy series they'll have. This is a TOUGH schedule. Detroit will get run over by Minnesota, crushed by Chicago, and decimated by the AL East teams. Let's look at the Twins' schedule, not so bad... 11 games against Kansas City 10 games against Detroit ( catch up time!) 10 games against Boston, New York, and Toronto 9 games against Chicago ( including the final season series) 6 against Baltimore The Twins have plenty of opportunities to catch up against Detroit and Chicago. The Twins have a winning record against the AL East, so they should be able to survive those series. But the biggest thing we see, 11 games against the Royals, compared to Detroit's 3. All you need to say. One more- Yankees: 13 games against Baltimore 10 games against Tampa Bay 9 games against Toronto ( 6 are played in the Bronx) 7 games against Boston 7 games against LAA 3 against- Chicago, Seattle, Detroit, Minnesota, and KC Not bad, not bad at all... 23 games against TB and Baltimore, nice! I wouldn't worry about Toronto too much, the Yanks play most of those games in the Bronx where they have dominated the Jays. Only 7 against Boston. The Yanks have swept the ChiSox, taken 3 of 4 from Detroit, 2 of 3 from Seattle, and plenty from KC. Looks pretty good. The Red Sox' schedule is pretty easy ( very diverse), so they should be able to take the East. Minnesota's incredibly easy schedule should help them win the Central, and the Yanks might swoop in and take the wildcard.
