mauer is currently hitting .368...that's not bad for a catcher woh also has 5 homers and 5 steals...anyone feel he should be starting in the All-Star game?

Both are worthy, but the fans will probably automatically vote for Pudge, Posada, or Varitek and only one of these guys will get to go.

It's a real shame that fans don't put in the time to really study their All-Star selections. The players should probably be picked by a manager's vote.

I think fan's choices should make up 9 automatic picks...managers the rest...with managers picking starting line-ups

Just to add, Joe Mauer has batted for an average of .750 in his last eight at-bats. Joey Mauer is an All-Star in the making, if not already. Best of all, he is 23-years old with a giant career ahead of him. Long live Piazza, because Mauer is going on top.

I don't think Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer will be big contenders in the MVP race. Right now, I think David Ortiz deserves the MVP Award even though my thoughts may spark some controversy. But I am almost positive that Mauer will become the first catcher ever to recieve the AL Batting Champ title. It is a great accomplishment which Twins fans should be proud of.

I believe I said the same thing yesterday. As you can determine, my opinion doesn't change so easily.

It may not be Mauer's year, but he will be in the race for years to come...the kid is a major talent.
