I would do that deal in a heartbeat as a Mets fan. Johan Santana, you know what you are getting. One of the best pitchers in the game. This is the only way the Mets can get a true #1 pitcher.

A deal like this may ravage the system but they would still retain guys like Eddie Kunz and Pelfrey and they have a bunch of first round draft picks in June. You don't get the chance to acquire an ace every day...gotta do it.

I agree, Empire. If you're a playoff contender and you have a shot at Santana, you've got to do what you can (within reason) to get him.
