Santana home winning streak snapped

Johan Santana's winning streak at the Metrodome, nearly two years old, was snapped yesterday by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, who beat Santana and the Twins 4-2.

According to the Associated Press, "Despite striking out 10 in seven innings, including five of the last six batters he faced, Santana (2-1) lost at home for the first time since Aug. 1, 2005... He was 17-0 during that stretch, and the Twins won all 24 games their two-time Cy Young Award winner pitched -- one short of the major league record set in 1890-91 by Louisville with Scott Stratton, according to the Elias Sports Bureau."

And what did Santana have to say about the streak coming to an end?

"If it's over, it's over," the Twins pitcher told reporters. "Then we'll start another one. It's that simple."

Re: Santana home winning streak snapped

Make that two straight home losses for Santana!

According to the Associated Press, "Santana lost his second straight home start and Fausto Carmona got a long-awaited win in Cleveland's 5-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night... Santana (3-2) was making his first home start since Tampa Bay snapped his remarkable regular-season winning streak on April 13. Santana was 17-0, and the Twins were 24-0, in his previous 24 home regular-season starts before he was outdueled by Scott Kazmir in a 4-2 loss."

Good to see Kazmir bounce back from injury last year...good young power pitcher...carried my Fantasy Team for most of the year...
