Justin Morneau Wins AL MVP

In what I see as a surprise, Twins 1B Justin Morneau won the American League MVP Award. He had 15 first place votes.

Second was Yankees SS Derek Jeter 12 first place votes and third was Red Sox DH David Ortiz.

Any arguments with Morneau over Jeter?

Re: Justin Morneau Wins AL MVP

Jeter obviously deserved the award, but Morneau is a good choice. The race was close, as I expected it to be, but I think some anti-Yankee biasness crept in. One sportswriter put Jeter in sixth place on his ballot which is just ridiculous.

But congrats to Morneau, who had an excellent year!

Cool Re: Justin Morneau Wins AL MVP

I myself would have voted for Morneau. Without him, the Twins wouldn't have won their division but the Yanks would have probably won their division without Jeter.

Morneau wasn't Howard...he didn't carry the team and was none existant the first part of the year... I know...he was on my fantasy team...Mauer and Santana were more valueable to the Twins so how can Morneau be more valueable overall?
