After a four-month reclamation project in baseball's toughest division, the Minnesota Twins finished their season yesterday with the gas gauge reading empty.
The Oakland Athletics concluded their three-game sweep of the Twins in the five-game American League division series with an 8-3 victory over the Twins at McAfee Coliseum. A's starter Dan Haren held the Twins in check for six innings while Eric Chavez and Milton Bradley hit home runs to lead Oakland into the AL Championship Series for the first time since 1992.
But even at home, the A's were a subplot to the sudden breakdown of the Twins.
