Wolves trim list to four players

Sounds like Mayo, Love, Lopez or possibly Gallinari with the third pick.

Minnesota Timberwolves trim draft list down to four players - TwinCities.com

The Timberwolves held their final Target Center workouts of the week Wednesday and turned their attention to the weekend. On Friday, the Wolves have a date with Italian forward Danilo Gallinari and other prospects in Los Angeles and will then go to Chicago for a Saturday session with Southern California guard O.J. Mayo.

Vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale, looking ahead to the June 26 NBA draft, said the team has pared its short list for the third selection to four.

"For that third pick, we started out with eight guys, excluding (Michael) Beasley and (Derrick) Rose (who are expected to go No. 1 and No. 2)," McHale said, "and we're down to like four guys that we really like a lot. Any one of those four guys you'd be really excited about."

McHale wouldn't identify the four, but assistant general manager Fred Hoiberg said Mayo is the last player in the group that the Wolves will see and they already have worked out two potential top-four picks in UCLA power forward/center Kevin Love and Stanford center Brook Lopez.

Also it sounds like they have some trade offers on the table, but nothing to enticing right now.

"We've got offers," he said. "I would tell you there's not an offer I'd do today. I think if we do anything, it will probably be (draft) night because I'd like to see what happens in front of us, too. Who knows? A lot of strange things happen in this draft."
