Milwaukee struggling

According to the Associated Press, "The NL Central leaders have big problems. Not even All-Star closer Francisco Cordero can save them now... Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 588th homer Thursday, and the Cincinnati Reds rallied against Milwaukee's nearly automatic closer for a 6-5, 10-inning victory that added to the Brewers' growing woes... They're still in first place, but not by much. And, they're playing like they don't deserve to be there."

The Brewers at one time had an 8.5 game lead on the Cubbies, but that's evaporated down to just a 2.0 game advantage. They're 4-6 in their last 10 and 13-15 since gaining that 8.5 game lead. What the heck's wrong with this ballclub?

Re: Milwaukee struggling

Ouch, more bad news for the Brewers - they just got swept by the Cards in a doubleheader last night!

Re: Milwaukee struggling

And from bad to worse today. Again quoting the AP, "Ryan Ludwick's bases-loaded walk broke an eighth-inning tie, Albert Pujols followed with a three-run double and the St. Louis Cardinals rallied from a five-run deficit to beat the Brewers 9-5 Sunday... Milwaukee, which led the division by 8 1/2 games before play on June 24, is just a half-game ahead of the Chicago Cubs, the Brewers' smallest margin in the Central since before play on April 22."

What in the world can Milwaukee do to stop the free fall?

Re: Milwaukee struggling

The Brewers still aren't playing too well, going just 4-6 in their last 10. But thankfully for them, the Cubbies are playing worse, going 3-7 in that stretch. So Milwaukee is clinging to a 1.5 game lead in the NL Central. How does everyone see this division race playing out in the weeks to come?

They are clinging cause the Cubs lose as often as they do...I just don't see these teams snapping out of it any time soon.

Makes me wonder if a team like the Cards could get hot and snatch this thing away from both of them.

Re: Milwaukee struggling

I think the Brewers will be OK as soon as Sheets comes back. He is their ace pitcher. It is hard to win without your best out there.

Re: Milwaukee struggling

They finally won yesterday, beating the Reds to snap a five-game losing streak.
