Ben Sheets injured

The Brewers beat the Rockies, 2-1, in 10 innings yesterday, but the big news is that pitcher Ben Sheets left the game in the 4th inning with an injury. According to the Associated Press, "Sheets pitched 3 1-3 innings, giving up one run and two hits while striking out three before leaving with a sprained middle finger. The right-hander grimaced immediately after throwing a pitch to Todd Helton in the fourth and was replaced by Yovani Gallardo... X-rays were negative, but the team said Sheets would undergo an MRI exam on Monday if it continues to bother him. Sheets said he didn't think the injury was serious." Milwaukee sure can't afford to lose him, can they?

Re: Ben Sheets injured

Sheets is headed to the 15-day DL with what is being called a sprained finger on his pitching hand. He says he heard something pop during his Saturday start. MRI tests showed no further damage on Monday. Rookie Yovani Gallardo is going to take his spot in the rotation for now.
