Re: Brewers closer Francisco Cordero

The Milwaukee Brewers will pay Francisco Cordero, who took over the team's closer role from Derrick Turnbow, $5.4 million dollars to stick around next season. Cordero, acquired from Texas for Carlos Lee, converted 16 of 18 save opportunities for the Brewers this season and has a 1.69 ERA. Smart move paying to keep him around? Is he really that much better than Turnbow?

Re: Brewers closer Francisco Cordero

If it was Chad Cordero I would understand this transaction. Francisco Cordero doesn't look anything special, and Turnbow might be better. The Brewers will stink without Carlos Lee around, but Prince Fielder is going to lead the team in the future.
