Re: Chad Henne

Sophomore slump or too much media hype after a fantastic freshman year? Any way you slice it, Michigan Wolverines QB Chad Henne performed well below expectations last season.

"This is probably a make or break year for Henne on a number of levels," the author of this article says. "With Michigan quarterbacks getting more than just a passing look-see these days in terms of NFL potential, the junior has every opportunity to show professional scouts that he has what it takes to play on Sunday. He also has a lot to prove to the university and it's fans, attempting to turn last season's negatives into this year's conference title. This is his time to shine, fully equipped even more with the knowledge he needs to lead this offense. Smart money says that he will, and that the Wolverines will once again finish among the top tier in the Big Ten standings."

So how will Henne and the Wolverines perform in 2006?

Re: Chad Henne

You know, I was just looking over last year's stats for Michigan Wolverines QB Chad Henne, and in retrospect he really didn't have all that bad a season. Henne completed 58.4% of his pass attempts for 2,526 yards, 23 touchdowns, 8 interceptions and an efficiency rating of 129.60. That doesn't look terrible by any stretch of the imagination. So why are so many people down on Henne?

Yep he was in line with his freshman numbers of 2,743 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2004...and he lost Braylon Edwards to the pros...so I just don't see what the fuss is about here. One writers opinion does not a consensus make...

Re: Chad Henne

I guess you're right, but you hear this kind of stuff everywhere in here Big Ten country. Or maybe I'm just too close to Ohio State territory to get objective analysis on a Michigan player. But check this out from Street & Smiths: "Henne has started all 24 games the past two seasons and already ranks third in school history in completions, fourth in TD tosses and sixth in yardage." If he keeps it up, there's no doubt he'll break all of these Wolverines records before he's done, right?

Re: Chad Henne

With him entering his Junior year, it's almost a given that he'll stay until his Senior year, correct? I say that in thinking if he does extremely well, perhaps he'll jump to the NFL. But QBs don't usually jump after the Junior season.

I know a lot of Michigan fans are down on Henne. If the teams does poorly this year, he may unfairly receive much of th eblame. I'd rather blame Lloyd Carr.
