Miles, Stoops, Ferentz might be atop Michigan's wish list

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- LSU coach Les Miles asked the local media to let it rest when he was peppered with questions about Michigan's opening. Good luck on that. The coach of the top-ranked Tigers became the No. 1 candidate to be the next coach of college football's winningest program as soon as Lloyd Carr said Monday he is retiring after the Wolverines play in a bowl game.

"What I'm doing is what you (the media) should do, and that's let it rest," Miles said in Baton Rouge, La. Miles played for Bo Schembechler at Michigan, where he met his wife and later became an assistant.

Stoops? Not gonna happen. Youngstown's not all that close to Ann Arbor, and why would he leave Oklahoma in the first place?

How interesting would it be for LSU to win the National Championship and their coach jump ship for another college.

Re: Miles, Stoops, Ferentz might be atop Michigan's wish list

The article I read last night said that in Mile's contract, there was a clause that stipulated about him going to Michigan. Here is an excerpt.

"In the 'termination by coach' section of his deal, Michigan is the only other school mentioned. It states that Miles will not seek or accept employment as Michigan's coach. If Miles does leave LSU to coach the Wolverines, he must pay LSU $1.25 million."
