Lloyd Carr retire

The official announcement is coming today - Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr is going to retire. ESPN has been reporting this all weekend, and in an Associated Press article, the news agency reports that Carr himself confirmed that the was going to step down on Monday. Says the AP, "His retirement ends an era marked by highs of winning a national championship and five Big Ten titles and lows of losing to Ohio State and Appalachian State... The news of Carr's decision came a day after Michigan lost to Ohio State for the fourth straight year, ending a trying season for Carr and the Wolverines."

Carr will finish his career with a 121-40, and his .752 winning percentage is 7th among current NCAA coaches.

Re: Lloyd Carr retire

Will he be remembered for his winning ways...or his recent losing history?

Good question, and it probably depends on who you ask. I'm sure Wolverines fans will remember the successes more than the failures.

Re: Lloyd Carr retire

He will be recalled for the loss to App. State and not being able to beat OSU. If this weren't the case, he would still be there.

Re: Lloyd Carr retire

He will be remembered as a winner, too conserative, a Michigan man and a coach with a horrible bowl record. Not one of Michigans best.
