Re: Michigan vs. Appalachian State

It's the biggest upset in college football history, period.

I saww the replay of the very end, TV guys said Appalachian State kicked their FG with 26 secnds left on 1st down? What the hell were they thinking?

Can't wait to see some more of this game on replay.

Re: Michigan vs. Appalachian State

I guess they wanted to go for the field goal and not risk a turnover or running out of time. Neither team had any timeouts I think.

Saw the FG replay. Still think it was a bad move & could have cost Appy State the game. They kicked from the right hashmark from 4 yard line. Low kick. They could have at least run over to the middle & burned a few seconds off the clock.

I'm sure that bad decision will casue the Appy State coaches to lose some sleep tonight... NOT!

Appalachian State's Armanti Edwards

Appalachian State's Armanti Edwards had a great quote.

reporter: how do you describe this?

Armanti Edwards: "We just beat Michigan, plain & simple"

That guy was talking like he knew how to win.

Out of the Top 10 for sure. Do they fall past 15?

Re: Michigan vs. Appalachian State

This is the all-time upset until someone shows me a bigger one and it is all the proof you need that there shouldn't be any rankings until the middle of the season. Division ! football is the only sport where you are rewarded for what you are supposed to do before the season even starts.

Oh. My. Gosh. Wow. I'm speechless.

ESPN Classic damn well better pick this up for a replay. Unbelievable.

It was the 15th straigh win for the Mountaineers, consequently. Longest streak in college football.

Re: Michigan vs. Appalachian State

Skip Holtz [Lou Holtz son] has embarrassed Michigan the supposedly #5 team in the nation. While I'm no App State fan I can appreciate thier program after all the are back to back national champions in thier own division. Today David brings Goliath low to the ground again. There are tears in the beers of Michigan fans. They will be crying over this one for a long time to come. WOW!

Re: Michigan vs. Appalachian State

Just wanted to comment that ASU is a Division 1-AA/Championship Division team not a Division 2 team. Since ASU is in the Championship Division and Michigan is in the Bowl Division, Michigan has approx. 20 more players than Appalachian. This "upset" really isn't as far fetched as you think. Appalachian has won 2 National Championships in a row 2005 as well as 2006 and are headed for their third title in a row. Michigan believed that they had this game won before they even stepped foot on the field. I would also like to point out that ASU currently has the longest winning streak in college football. The Mountaineers have not lost a game at home in 3 years.

Re: Michigan vs. Appalachian State

Does this loss speel the end of the Carr era in Michigan. I can't see how the alumni can put up with losing to OSU, getting drubbed in bowl games, and now losing to a DIV 2 team.
