(CSTV U-WIRE) ANN ARBOR, Mich. — A piece of cardboard hanging the dugout Thursday had on it two words of a simple message: "OMAHA! BELIEVE!"
All season long, a trip to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., was the Wolverines' goal. From day one, Michigan coach Rich Maloney never hesitated about saying the word "Omaha," and always included it in reasons why the team scheduled games in front of big crowds and hostile environments early in the season.
But after 61 games and 526 innings in 10 different states, the 2007 campaign came down to 24 minutes.
In Michigan's 8-2 season-ending loss to defending national champion Oregon State, the lengthy bottom of the second inning was the beginning of the end of the Wolverines' dream season.
