CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Thousands of fans pulled on black shirts after halftime Wednesday night at Assembly Hall.
The message was to the administration, supporting their deposed Native American mascot. But it was a hint for Michigan about an arriving dark cloud.
Another mistake-filled second half dug too deep of a hole for the Wolverines, who lost, 54-42.
After a sloppy first half on both sides, Michigan (18-10, 6-7 Big Ten) kept pace in the second, committing nine turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the half, handing the game to Illinois (20-9, 8-6).
