| Donovan Warren U-M fans: Meet Donovan Warren ![]() By The GoBlueWolverine Staff GoBlueWolverine.com Posted Feb 2, 2007 Meet the newest Michigan Wolverine, cornerback Donovan Warren from the fabled Long Beach (Calif.) Poly Jackrabbits, the Golden State's top high school football program. What is he like, what is his 'game', and how did Michigan pull this upset? Meet Donovan Warren -- He's a 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback. -- He runs a 4.4 second 40, and has a 10.6 100m time. -- He is Scout.com's no. 22 prospect (U-M's 2nd highest commit; Mallett's #5) -- He is Scout.com's #4 cornerback, a 5-star prospect. Selected to play in the USA's top high school all star game, the Army All-American Game. Warren was top-notch all week in Army Game practices, and also in the game itself, showing that his game comprises speed and aggressiveness. For his senior season, Warren recorded 36 tackles and three interceptions. On the offensive side he carried the ball 72 times for 448 yards (four carries per game, 6.2 yards per carry) and six touchdowns. He also hauled in 14 passes for 181 yards (8.8 catches a game, 12.9 yards per catch) and two touchdowns. Warren and his Poly Jackrabbit teammates had their 11-2 season come to a close with a heartbreaking 23-22 loss to Orange (Calif.) Lutheran in the CIF Division I semifinals. Warren's godfather is Poly alum, former USC Trojan, and Detroit Lions safety Mark Carrier. Warren is fully qualified academically with a 2.9 core GPA and an 880 SAT. His personality: GoBlueWolverine got to spend time with Warren and his father during Army All-American week. Warren is -- high energy, upbeat, and confident. His weakness: He is still a little slender, but that is because he is not yet quite fully physically mature. He will get stronger quickly in our opinion. |
