As the final seconds ticked off the scoreboard clock at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor, T.J. Hensick hopped over the boards and skated straight for the game puck. After jumping on top of the Northern Michigan Wildcats early in the game, the No. 13-ranked Wolverines held on late for a 5-2 win on Friday night, the 600th of Michigan coach Red Berenson’s career.

“I think, as a team, we’re just happy to be a part of it. It just shows the tradition that the coach has had with his teams of the past and the success the program itself has had. We’re just happy to be a part of it. Hopefully we can continue to be a part of it,” Hensick said after the Wolverines second win this week. “I don’t know if it was in his mind. He played it off like it wasn’t, but it must have been in the back of his mind. It’s a pretty special moment for him.”

Gordon "Red" Berenson has been coaching Michigan Wolverines hockey since 1984, and according to Wikipedia, he "has led the Wolverines to nine Frozen Four appearances and NCAA championships in 1996 and 1998. In CCHA competition, his teams have won eight regular-season and six tournament titles... He presently ranks eighth in NCAA history for career victories."

So where would you rank Berenson among the greatest collegiate hockey coaches of all time?
