Fire Lloyd Carr!

You know there are going to be some Michigan fans and alumni calling for the firing of Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr after his team's terrible performance in the Rose Bowl. They've lost 3 straight to Ohio State and 3 straight Bowl Games.

So does Coach Carr get the axe, or is he given time to turn the program around?

Re: Fire Lloyd Carr!

I'm not aware of all the personal things in Michigan but I'd say they may have a case. How can a Wolverines coach lose three straight to OSU and three straight bowl games. They looked awful out there tonight.

Re: Fire Lloyd Carr!

Ya'll have a serious problem. Michigan is ranked number 3, and has just risen from a serious off year back into contention. If ya'll had won the Rose Bowl (even though Michigan just got abused), ya'll would be worshipping the dirt he stomps on.

For the record, I don't think he should be fired. But those kind of stats cost OSU's John Cooper his job a few years ago, so who knows?

Re: Fire Lloyd Carr!

Maybe Carr could take the Bama job?...

Still, I think he has done a fantastic job at Michigan...top 5 ranking are hard to come by...

Re: Fire Lloyd Carr!

It sure did look like the offences first game of the season, that long lay-off hurt them. I sure wish I could figure out what goes wrong in the Bowl games. I hate to end the season on such a downer. I think Boise would have kicked there butt.

Re: Fire Lloyd Carr!

Its time for a change IMO. I've been saying to give Carr "one more" year for the past 2 seasons. But after the way this season ended, I almost feel like Lloyd is never gonna get better.

Ron English has the D looking good, I think the school should bring in a younger coach who can revitalize the offense. Its been so bland for so long. And with the players Michigan has coming back they HAVE to steamroll the competition next year.

Lloyd has done a great job so far, and Wolverines fans have been spoiled for the most part with all the wins. But the Wolverines have the potential to be USC-good if they just utilize their talent right.

Re: Fire Lloyd Carr!

sno this is what I think. I think Lloyd is a great motivator of men and I also feel that he knows that the team deserves better, just like last year I think he will make changes to the staff that will help this team. I was disappointed when he let Jim Herman go but I see now that it was for the better. Ron had the defence ready to play up until OSU exposed it for everybody. I sure don't want to get into changing coachs every few years like Michigan State for instance, what he needs is a off cor that can coach and call an aggresive game. I also think that he has to start taking the OSU game personally and get pissed. As far as the bowl games go in the big picture unless your playing for the national championship they don't mean a whole heck of a lot except for money.

Thumbs down Re: Fire Lloyd Carr!

Not likely to worhsip ground he walks on. Not only have we lost the last 3 to OSU and the last 3 bowl games, but we have lost 3 of the last 4 week 3 games. These are always road games against big schools like Oregon, UCLA, USC and Notre Dame. A loss in this game and your likely black-balled for the rest of the season in the current BS-system.

I love seeing the run as much as any Big Ten fan. But when your down 14+ points in the second half, you can't run your way out of it. And a 185 yards per game passing scheme won't get you out of it. I saw that a big-time QB recruit from Tex-Arkana High (6'7"-235lbs.) has committed to UM. It's time to better develop the passing game and recruit some receivers. We'll never have a probelm with getting talented RB.

Michigan just lost to Appalachian State. Will Carr still have a job on Monday?

Yeah, that pretty much has been the consensus - that he's going to retire. There was some speculation that he would be gone after the first game, but clearly that didn't happen, so I imagine he'll be safe to finish out the year. I bet he's sure hoping it ends on a higher note than it started on.
