| Rose Bowl: Michigan vs. USC Okay, so I personally thought Michigan deserved a shot in the BCS title game. But that notwithstanding, man does this look to be a fantastic match-up. The Rose Bowl gets it's traditional match-up, with the Wolverines representing the Big Ten against the Pac-10 Champs from USC. Probably the one I'm looking forward to most. Who do you think wins this one?

| Whoa...... Michigan got worked!!! This just shows the stupidity of a playoff system. The number 3 team is almost never better than the 1 or 2 team and when was the last time that you ever heard of a number 4 team with a legitimate claim at the national title? |

| Re: Rose Bowl: Michigan vs. USC Sorry, Shambala, just because that may be applicable argument right now (if Florida loses by 20 points, are we still saying they're the second best team in the country?), doesn't mean it has always worked in the past or that it will work again in the future. Was Nebraska really the second best team in the country in 2001? Or Oklahoma in either 2003 or 2004? Most rational people would tell you that the BCS botched the job all three of these years. And that is the fundemental problem with this system, it's almost impossible to "get it right" when you are arbitrarily selecting two teams too vye for a national title, the margin of error is too great. The only years the BCS succeeds in "getting it right" are when it is impossible to get it wrong (Texas-USC last season, OSU-Miami in 2002). Look at it this way, if the aforementioned scenario takes place and Florida loses by 20 points, with Michigan losing convincingly in the Rose Bowl, say Louisville wins by 30 tonight, don't they have a legitimate gripe with the BCS for not being given any consideration for the National Title game? You may agree or disagree with the notion, but they still only had one loss in a conference that is increasingly respectable. |
